What are Question Components?

Question components are interactive elements that learners type in or manipulate to respond to the digital lesson. They include multiple-choice questions, text input, dropdowns, number input, sliders, and multiline text inputs. How learners respond to interactive elements in Simple Author will result in an adaptive experience with custom feedback and pathways.

How to Add Question Components

1. Make sure you are in Screen Panel view.

1. Click on the icon for the static component type you want to add to the screen. You can hover over the icons to see what each represents.

   

2. The component will appear on the main canvas where you can edit it further.

   <aside> 👀 Don't forget to preview the lesson to see what your learners will see! Preview may look slightly different than what you see in the Screen View, but the preview is what it will look like for the learners.

How to Edit Components

1. Select the component. A green, dashed border will appear along with a menu on top.
   1. The component menu will allow you to…
      • Edit the contents
      • Copy the component
      • Delete the component
      • Move a component above or below another (+/-).

1. You can also move or resize the component:

Moving the component:

• Hover over the component and you will see an icon with four arrows.
• Click and drag the component to where you want it.
• Release the click to drop the component at that location.

Resizing the component:

• Click and drag the border to resize the component.

1. The Right Panel is another area where you can edit depending on the component type. Select “Component” on the Right Panel to make more customizations.
